Inle Lake, the second largest natural lake in Myanmar, situated 875 meters above sea level, 22Km long and 11 Km wide. Inle Lake sandwiched between the hazy blue eastern shan mountains, is famous as the unique place of leg-rowers in the world, with floating gardens and monasteries built on stilts. It is supposed to be the most beautiful scenic spot of Myanmar, well known as "Venice of The East".
The greatest event is the celebration of the Phaung Daw Oo buddha statues peregrination festival.
Once in every year, during the seventh month of Myanmar calendar year, (mostly September/October) The inthas use to place the Phaung Daw Oo buddha statues on a decorated royal barge surrounded by canoes and power boats for the processing around the inle lake.
At that time, you can see the inthas' traditional and the unique leg-rowing competition.
